OUR STORY

The Hatch Group was hatched in 2017, when founders, Erik Jacobs and Greg Roth, faced business circumstances that initiated their leap of faith. “It was now or never,” said Jacobs. Roth and Jacobs together had spent nearly 30 years in the IT staffing and consulting space, ten of those years together, and felt their combined experience and approach to business was well aligned. According to Roth, “we both believed we had what it takes to build a successful business in this industry. Our ability to cultivate and manage meaningful relationships, along with our commitment to the success of our customers and staff was evident from the start.”

So why The Hatch Group? The inspiration for the company name was derived from a shared love of fly-fishing and the prolific bug hatches that are associated. “We played with several ideas and variations, trying to tie something we’re passionate about back to business. “The Hatch” is represented by a transformation, an emergence, and finally an ascension – all good parallels to business”, according to Roth.

We find that for many IT Staffing firms, their Competitive Advantages are kind of like belly buttons – most are useless and many just collect dust. Many Staffing firms seem to default to the lowest common denominator…make it a volume game. They take an approach of what we call “throwing oatmeal against the wall”, hoping and praying some of their work will stick. Their Competitive Advantage becomes one of speed vs quality.

In holding true to our mission statement, we wanted to Transform the IT Staffing industry and try to make it a bit better than we found it. After months of listening to Client feedback and reviewing some rather atypical “Interview to Offer” results, we were able to define and document something we felt was unique in the IT Staffing space. Truth be told, a Client actually came up with a term to describe us…surgical. We coined this surgical process as “IVP”. IVP is our Competitive Advantage. The letters stand for Identify, Validate, Prescribe.  

In a nutshell, IVP leverages our network of top tech talent, our SME’s, to assist with requirements definition and candidate validation. The result is a valuation that maps the candidate’s skillset directly to the client’s requirements. What makes our process unique is that our SME’s are not our employees. They are hired guns, who get paid whether we win or not; thus, giving our clients an unbiased approach.

Better process does equal better results. For clients who subscribe to our IVP process, the Interview to Offer rate is nothing short of remarkable. During our latest analysis, 86% of candidates who interviewed with clients leveraging IVP received an offer.

We focus our efforts in four major buckets of work: custom app dev and app integration, enterprise data management, project and product services, and cloud engineering. When combined, these capabilities enable us to offer a breadth and depth of skillsets, that are aligned to drive business value.

In 2023, The Hatch Group expanded our services to include a nearshore staffing solution, using highly skilled technologists based in Latin America (LATAM).

By leveraging our standard vetting process (IVP), along with the time zone overlap, cultural and communication similarities, cost savings as compared to domestic talent and the USMCA Trade Agreement, we’re excited to now compete for a share of this market segment.
